Framed and Unframed Limited Edition African Wildlife prints

When our sculptors are working on a new sculpture, they often begin with sketches of the piece they have in mind.

Jonathan Sanders has further worked on a selection these sketches, embellishing them until he felt that they became lovely paintings in their own right.

Nelson & Forbes are proud to make available beautifully printed limited edition prints of these paintings, elegantly mounted and ready for you to frame and hang.

These prints have been bought as gifts for someone who already owns a Jonathan Sanders sculpture, but also in their own right.  The soft pastel colours and gentle designs mean they make beautiful yet sophisticated art for a nursery, but also a subtle touch of fun in a living room or dining room without clashing or competing with an existing colour scheme.  His mix of classic technique, traditional subject matter and modern interpretation mean that Jonathan’s studies are particularly popular for hanging in family rooms and kitchens.

Each image has been carefully printed in Great Britain, on high quality Innova Art Fine Art Watercolour cold press 330 gsm paper, using only Epson Ultrachrome inks which are guaranteed to be light fast for 120 years in normal viewing conditions.

The prints are then carefully torn around the edges and mounted by hand on Arqadia Minuet 2000 micron acid free conservation board that complies with Fine Art Trade Guild Conservation Level framing, ready for you to frame and hang.

The image stands slightly proud of the back board upon which it was mounted, so ‘Image size’ refers to the size of the actual water colour paper image within the mount.

Once each image has been printed and mounted, it is individually signed and numbered in pencil by the artist.  This is your guarantee that this is an authentic, approved print of Jonathan Sanders’s original painting.

Many of our prints are bought as gifts and we deliver directly to the recipient.  We have been asked many times if we could please provide a frame so that the recipient is not landed with a framing bill on receipt of their gift!  We thought long and hard about this before we decided to offer framed prints as we wanted to ensure that they arrived in pristine condition, whilst still using high quality framing materials.

It is possible to use an acrylic front for the frame, instead of glass.  This is a popular choice when framed artwork is to be shipped, as acrylic is far less likely to break in transit and is lighter and therefore cheaper to ship.  In our experience, however, acrylic is difficult to clean, scratches easily and simply does not look as good as glass on display.  We therefore decided that if we were going to offer framed prints, we were going to frame them behind glass and so would need to design a packaging system that would ensure that the framed prints arrive at their destination in perfect condition.

Following discussions with our cardboard box supplier and foam supplier, and a several trials and stress tests (including drop tests), we finalised a ruggedly durable design that fits every one of our framed prints precisely.  We are we happy to report that every one of our prints and frames that we have dispatched has arrived in pristine condition, ready to hang – including a framed print which was opened in Australia.

We offer one frame choice – a 23mm wide bronze coloured frame.  This understated frame beautifully complements each of our prints and is at home in a wide variety of design schemes, from traditional to modern.  Every print is carefully framed and mounted behind glass by our local specialist picture framer and arrives strung and ready to hang.
