The ideal gift for anyone who lives with or loves a Miniature Schnauzer, we hand cast this gorgeous sculpture in solid bronze in our British foundry as strictly limited edition of 250 castings worldwide. Once we have cast all 250 castings of this sculpture, no further castings will ever be made.
UPDATE: We have been told by many collectors that this piece also represents the Standard Schnauzer very accurately. If you would like to purchase this piece to represent your Standard Schnauzer, it will happily do so. The certificate shows the name ‘Miniature Schnauzer’, but this is not shown on the actual sculpture.
Every casting of this bronze Miniature Schnauzer sculpture arrives bearing Sue Maclaurin’s signature, our ‘NF’ maker’s mark and its own unique edition number.
It arrives beautifully gift boxed in our signature handmade Nelson & Forbes grey gift packaging, along with an individually numbered and artist signed certificate of authenticity, ready to be given as a wonderful gift.
PLEASE NOTE: We have also been asked by many Schnauzer lovers to create a sculpture with a docked tail, so we were happy to oblige.
Both our docked and undocked Miniature sculptures are taken from a single edition of 250 castings.
We first made a mould of the undocked Miniature Schnauzer, before Sue Maclaurin modified the tail on her original sculpture. We then made a second mould of the Miniature Schauzer, now with a docked tail, to create bronze castings of the sculpture with a docked tail.
This means that only 250 castings of the Miniature Schauzer will ever be made, some with a docked tail and some with an undocked tail.

How We Make Our Sculptures
We use the ancient art of Lost Wax Casting to hand cast your sculpture in solid bronze metal, never resin or ‘cold cast’ bronze. Each time a piece is cast, a new mould is created and then destroyed, ensuring that every sculpture you purchase from us is utterly unique. Each piece is individually numbered by hand, indicating its specific casting number within the edition, and bears the artist’s signature, and our ‘NF’ maker’s mark.
Creation of the Master Mould
A single-use mould is meticulously created from the original artwork. This is the heart of the process—every detail captured here will be perfectly replicated in bronze. Molten wax is then poured into this mould, creating a precise duplicate of the artist’s original sculpture.
The Bronze Pour
The wax model is coated in a ceramic shell and then fired in a kiln, a process that melts and “loses” the wax. This creates a hollow ceramic mould. Molten bronze, heated to an incredible 1200°C/2200°F, is immediately poured into this mould. Once cooled, the ceramic shell is carefully broken away, revealing the raw bronze sculpture inside.
Hand Finishing & Patina
The raw bronze sculpture is expertly hand-finished by our skilled artisans. This final stage is where the sculpture’s character comes to life. Our craftsman applies heat and a chemical patina to the sculpture, creating a unique colour and effect. Finally, a protective wax coating is carefully applied and polished, giving the sculpture a beautiful, lustrous finish.
Authenticity & Numbering
Every piece is numbered by hand, authenticating its place within the limited edition and ensuring your sculpture is truly unique. It also bears our ‘NF’ maker’s mark, and the artist’s signature, a final mark of authenticity and quality.
